Course Description

Suggested replies, chat assistants, and AI scoring can make a service team faster within a week, and quietly worse if nobody checks. This course gives agents and leads a practical way to take the speed while keeping every reply accurate, every sensitive contact human, and every ticket private.

What you'll learn

  • Where AI fits in service, triage with an UNSURE fallback, and why priority stays with a person
  • The four-item pre-send check on suggested replies, and how to make a draft sound read
  • Knowledge bases built for retrieval, the NOT FOUND rule, and protecting customer data in tickets
  • Chat assistant scope, the fixed refusal, six-mode testing, and hand-offs with full context
  • Sensitive and crisis contacts, and the statement types a reply should never make
  • Quality beside speed, AI-assisted QA without surveillance, root causes, and current knowledge

Got Questions? We've Got Answers!

Answers to the most common questions about this course.

What is the AI for Customer Service Professionals course?
AI for Customer Service Professionals is a RiseCert online course on running AI in a service operation, from triage and suggested replies to chat assistants and QA, so customers get faster, more consistent help while agents keep the judgment and the final word. It includes 15 video lessons and a final exam.
Who should take an AI course for customer service?
Customer service and support agents, team leads, supervisors, QA reviewers, knowledge base owners, and service operations managers who use or are rolling out AI tools. It also suits anyone responsible for a customer-facing chat assistant and for deciding what it may and may not say.
Do I need technical or AI experience to take this course?
No. AI for Customer Service Professionals requires no coding and no technical background. It is written for people who work the queue and teaches through everyday contacts, such as a missing delivery, a double charge, a password reset, or a customer in distress. If you handle or manage customer contacts, you have the background you need.
What will I be able to do after completing the course?
You'll be able to set up triage with fixed categories and an UNSURE fallback, check every suggested reply for price, date, policy, and promise, and keep the knowledge base current. You'll also be able to scope and test a chat assistant, design hand-offs with context, run AI-assisted QA, and turn ticket themes into root-cause fixes.
Should AI chatbots answer customers directly?
Only for truly routine contacts, inside a short allowed list. The course teaches that everything outside scope gets one fixed refusal line and a real hand-off, and that the assistant never makes commitments or account changes. Distress, vulnerability, commitment requests, legal language, two failed attempts, or a request for a person all trigger a hand-off.
Is it safe to send AI-suggested replies to customers?
Only after an agent checks them, because a click is a send. AI for Customer Service Professionals teaches a four-item pre-send check on every suggested reply: price, date, policy, and promise. The agent also edits the draft to show they read the customer's message and commits only to what they can actually do.
What is a knowledge base for an AI assistant, and why does it matter?
It is the set of articles the assistant retrieves and answers from. The course teaches that the assistant is only as accurate as the article it finds: one topic per article, version and effective date shown, an owner and review date set, old versions archived out of the index, and a NOT FOUND rule instead of answering from general knowledge.
How do you test a customer service chatbot before launch?
The course teaches testing six failure modes with adversarial messages: invention, promises, scope, distress, loops, and prompt injection. The test set is re-run monthly and after every knowledge, model, or prompt change. Launch requires zero failures on promises, distress, and injection, a working hand-off, a named owner, and a tested kill switch.
How should AI handle upset, vulnerable, or sensitive customer contacts?
The tool steps back and a person steps in. For distress, vulnerability, complaints about treatment, crisis, and legal contacts, no suggested reply is sent; the agent writes in their own words. The assistant may still flag, route, summarize history, and pull policy, and any crisis signal triggers regional resources and an immediate hand-off to a trained agent.
How do you measure AI's impact on customer service quality?
Track four quality measures beside speed: resolution rate, re-contact within seven days, satisfaction split by AI-handled, agent-handled, and escalated contacts, and escalation reasons. The course explains that falling handle time with rising re-contact is the signature of AI answers going out unchecked or from stale knowledge, and teaches a 30-minute weekly review.
Which AI tools or helpdesk platforms does the course cover?
The course is vendor-neutral and doesn't require or endorse any specific product. It teaches practices that apply to any approved helpdesk assistant, suggested-reply feature, or chat assistant, including how to protect ticket data: only approved tools, identifiers replaced, sensitive details minimized, and never personal accounts, free tiers, or translation sites.
How is this different from a general AI productivity course?
General AI courses teach prompting for individual tasks. AI for Customer Service Professionals covers running AI across a service operation: triage, suggested replies, the knowledge base, chat assistant scope and testing, hand-offs, sensitive contacts, compliance statements, quality metrics, QA without surveillance, and feeding ticket themes back to product teams.
How long is the course?
The course has about 1 hour 5 minutes of video across 15 lessons, plus a final exam. Lessons run about four to five minutes each and are organized into three modules: AI in the Queue; Customer-Facing Automation; and Quality and Improvement. Many learners finish in one or two sittings.
Is the course self-paced and online?
Yes. AI for Customer Service Professionals is 100% online and self-paced, and your access does not expire. You can start, pause, and resume at any time on a computer, tablet, or phone with a modern web browser. There's nothing to install.
Is there a final exam?
Yes. The course ends with a 30-question multiple-choice final exam covering all three modules. You need a score of 80% or higher (24 of 30) to pass, and you can retake the exam as many times as you need. Finish all 15 lessons and pass the exam to complete the course.
Will I get a certificate of completion?
Yes. After you complete all 15 lessons and pass the final exam, you can download a RiseCert certificate of completion for AI for Customer Service Professionals. It is a course completion certificate, not a license, a professional certification, or a continuing education (CE) certificate.
Does the course qualify for continuing education credit?
No. AI for Customer Service Professionals is not currently approved or accredited for continuing education (CE, CPE, or CEU) credit by any state, licensing body, or professional association. If you need credit hours, take a course approved by the body that governs your credential.
Is the course legal or compliance advice?
No. The course is educational and is not legal, privacy, or compliance advice. It teaches routing regulated statements, such as health, financial, legal, and data-handling claims, to the teams that own them, but your company's policies, its legal and security teams, and applicable law govern specific decisions.
How much does the course cost, and can I enroll my support team?
The course costs $99 per learner as a one-time purchase, with no subscription or recurring fees. To enroll a support team, a contact center group, or a whole service department, contact RiseCert through the Contact Us page at risecert.org.
What is the refund policy?
