AI-Era Incident Response

AI rewrote the incident clock: fraud that once took weeks can now finish in hours, and some of the evidence is synthetic from the start. This course prepares you for the day something gets through. You'll learn to recognize and triage AI-era incidents, run the first-hour playbook, and respond to fraud, deepfakes, and compromised accounts and agents. You'll finish able to recover well, from blameless reviews and evidence discipline to rebuilding trust and running tabletop drills.

Course Description

Deepfake fraud, hijacked AI agents, impersonation at scale, and faster breaches all share one problem: at machine speed, there's no time to invent a response. This course builds the recognition, playbooks, and roles that turn a potential disaster into a managed event.

What you'll learn

  • The human and system signals of an AI-driven attack, and how to connect them
  • Fast triage into fraud, fake, or breach, and the first-hour playbook
  • Incident roles and escalation paths that work at 2 a.m.
  • Containing fraud, deepfakes, and compromised accounts, agents, and credentials
  • Communicating under pressure and reporting to banks, platforms, and law enforcement
  • Blameless reviews, evidence and timelines, legal awareness, trust rebuilding, and tabletop drills

Who it's for

Managers, finance and operations staff, IT and security teams, communicators, and anyone who might be the first to notice, report, or help contain an incident. No technical background required.

15 short video lessons in three modules: Recognizing, Responding, and Recovering.

This course is educational and is not legal or security-consulting advice. Your employer's security policy and counsel govern.

Got Questions? We've Got Answers!

Answers to the most common questions about this course.

What is the AI-Era Incident Response course?
AI-Era Incident Response is a RiseCert online course that prepares employees and teams for the day an AI-enabled attack gets through. It covers recognizing and triaging incidents, responding to fraud, deepfakes, and compromises, and recovering through reviews, documentation, and drills. It includes 15 video lessons (about 1 hour 10 minutes) and a final exam.
Who should take an AI incident response course?
Anyone who might be first to notice, report, or help contain an incident: managers, finance and accounts payable staff, operations, communications, IT, and security teams. AI-Era Incident Response is written for non-specialists as well as responders, because the course teaches that early detection and honest reporting often matter more than expertise.
How is incident response different in the AI era?
The course explains that AI compressed the timeline: fraud can complete in hours, attacks run in parallel against many targets, and AI-driven cons adapt mid-attack. Some evidence, like a cloned voice or face, is synthetic from the start. That's why the course stresses preparation, so response is recall rather than invention.
What should you do in the first hour of a cyber incident?
AI-Era Incident Response teaches four universal first-hour moves: contain the active damage, preserve the evidence before cleanup, escalate to the right people, and sweep for other likely targets. Under uncertainty, it recommends strong but reversible actions, such as freezing a payment or suspending an account, over inaction you can't undo.
What should a company do after a fraudulent wire transfer?
The course teaches that the first call is to your bank's fraud line to request a recall or freeze, with the amount, destination account, and timestamp. In parallel, freeze any sibling payments, report to law enforcement (in the US, the FBI's IC3), and have your bank alert the receiving bank. Beware later recovery scam calls.
How do you respond to a deepfake of your CEO?
The course treats it as a communications sprint. Warn the targeted audiences first, in the channels where the fake is spreading, with a simple statement that it isn't real. Capture copies, URLs, accounts, and timestamps before requesting takedown, report through platform impersonation processes, escalate to legal and law enforcement, and monitor for re-uploads.
What is a blameless post-incident review?
A blameless post-incident review asks what let an incident happen rather than who messed up, because blame makes people hide the honest data the review needs. AI-Era Incident Response teaches asking why repeatedly until you reach changeable systems, then giving each finding an owner, a due date, and tracking it to done.
Do I need a technical or cybersecurity background?
No. AI-Era Incident Response is written for non-specialists and explains the response in plain language. There is no coding or forensics work. The course is clear about the non-specialist's role: detect and report fast, preserve what you saw, be honest about what you did, and support the technical responders rather than freelancing.
What will I be able to do after completing the course?
You'll be able to spot the signals of an AI-driven attack, triage incidents as fraud, fake, or breach, run the first-hour playbook, define incident roles and escalation paths, contain fraud, deepfakes, and compromises, communicate under pressure, report effectively, keep a running timeline, run a blameless review, and lead a tabletop exercise.
How is this different from a general incident response plan or framework?
General frameworks describe phases of response. AI-Era Incident Response focuses on what AI changed: machine-speed timelines, deepfake and impersonation incidents, hijacked AI agents, and synthetic evidence. It gives non-specialists concrete playbooks for each incident type, plus the roles, communication habits, and drills that make a plan usable under pressure.
How long does AI-Era Incident Response take?
The course has about 1 hour 10 minutes of video across 15 lessons, plus a final exam. Lessons run about four to five minutes each and are organized into three modules: Recognizing, Responding, and Recovering. Many learners finish in one or two sittings.
Is the course online and self-paced?
Yes. The course is 100% online and self-paced, and your access does not expire. You can start, pause, and resume at any time on a computer, tablet, or phone with a modern web browser. There's nothing to install.
Is there a final exam?
Yes. The course ends with a 30-question multiple-choice final exam covering all three modules. You need a score of 80% or higher (24 of 30) to pass, and you can retake the exam as many times as you need. Finish all 15 lessons and pass the exam to complete the course.
Do I get a certificate of completion?
Yes. After you complete all 15 lessons and pass the final exam, you can download a RiseCert certificate of completion. It is a course completion certificate, not a license, a professional security or incident-handling certification, or a continuing education (CE) certificate.
Does the course count for CPE or continuing education credit?
No. AI-Era Incident Response is not currently approved or accredited for continuing education credit of any kind, including CE, CPE, or CEU, by any state, licensing body, or certification organization. If you need credits to maintain a credential, take a course approved by that credential's body.
Does the course cover breach notification laws?
At an awareness level. The course explains that exposure of personal or regulated data often triggers legal duties, that the clock usually starts at discovery rather than confirmed misuse, and that some regimes use deadlines as short as 72 hours. It stresses engaging counsel early, since counsel decides what's reportable, to whom, and by when.
Is this course legal or security-consulting advice?
No. AI-Era Incident Response is educational and stays at a defensive, awareness level. It is not legal advice or security-consulting advice, and it can't tell you what your organization must report or how to investigate a specific incident. Your employer's security policy and incident plan, your security team, and qualified counsel govern.
Can the course help my team practice incident response?
Yes. The final lesson shows how to run a tabletop exercise with no technology: pick a realistic AI incident, talk through who does what, note where the response stalls, fix the gaps, and repeat quarterly with a new scenario. The course treats finding gaps safely as the main payoff of a drill.
How much does the course cost, and can I enroll my team?
The course costs $99 per learner as a one-time purchase, with no subscription or recurring fees. To enroll an incident response team, department, or whole organization, contact RiseCert through the Contact Us page at risecert.org.
What is the refund policy?
All sales are final and no refunds are issued, as stated in the RiseCert Terms of Use. Please review the course description, lesson list, and these FAQs before purchasing, and contact RiseCert with any questions first.
