AI for Finance & Accounting Professionals

Finance runs on controls, and AI doesn't change any of them. What it changes is the first pass: the reconciliation, the variance draft, the anomaly scan, and the scenario arrive in minutes instead of hours. This course teaches you to take that speed while verifying every AI-touched number, keeping an audit trail, and leaving every posting, approval, and regulated conclusion with a named person. You'll finish ready to run your next close with AI and with the same sign-off standards.

Course Description

An assistant can sum a column wrong, apply last year's rate, or resolve an exception by assuming, and present it all with confidence. This course gives finance teams a practical way to use AI for the first pass while every control, tie-out, and sign-off stays in place.

What you'll learn

  • The controls AI never changes, and how to classify and aggregate financial data before any prompt
  • Recomputing every AI-touched number, the two-figure rule, and an analysis record auditors can follow
  • Reconciliations with explicit matching rules and exceptions listed, never auto-resolved
  • Variance commentary labeled computed or interpreted, board packs, anomaly triage, and one source pack
  • Scenarios from your own assumption sheet, presented as ranges, and precise spend analysis
  • Invoice extraction, three-way matching, and where tax and regulatory judgment needs a qualified reviewer

Who it's for

Got Questions? We've Got Answers!

Answers to the most common questions about this course.

What is the AI for Finance & Accounting Professionals course?
AI for Finance & Accounting Professionals is a RiseCert online course on using AI for the first pass of finance work, such as reconciliations, variance commentary, anomaly scans, forecasts, and invoice extraction, without loosening a single control. It covers verification, the audit trail, reporting, planning, and tax boundaries across 15 video lessons and a final exam.
Who is this AI course for finance professionals designed for?
Accountants, controllers, financial analysts, FP&A teams, accounts payable and close teams, and finance managers who use or plan to use AI assistants in their work. It also suits finance leaders deciding how AI fits inside existing controls such as segregation of duties, approvals, and workpaper standards.
Do I need technical or AI experience to take this course?
No. AI for Finance & Accounting Professionals requires no coding or data science. It is written for finance professionals and taught through everyday work: a bank reconciliation, a travel overrun, a month-end pack, a duplicate invoice. If you prepare or review financial work, you have the background you need.
What will I be able to do after completing the course?
You'll be able to brief an assistant for reconciliations with explicit matching rules, draft variance commentary labeled computed or interpreted, run a pre-close anomaly scan and triage it, and build scenarios from your own assumption sheet. You'll also be able to verify every AI-touched number and keep an analysis record an auditor can follow.
Can AI do reconciliations for accountants?
AI can do the matching, not the judgment. The course teaches a matching brief with your rules in priority order, a stated tolerance, and an instruction not to adjust, net, or assume. The assistant lists exceptions with evidence; a person investigates each one, and matched plus unmatched totals must equal the control totals on both sides.
How do you verify numbers produced by an AI tool in finance?
Every AI-touched number is recomputed independently, not by asking the tool again. AI for Finance & Accounting Professionals adds a two-figure rule: the headline figure and the figure that drives a decision or payment are always redone from source. Outputs then tie out through control totals, subtotals to the ledger, and rates and periods to their sources.
What does an auditor need to see for AI-assisted finance work?
The course teaches a five-part analysis record kept with the workpapers: the source snapshot with timestamp and control total, the prompts verbatim, the unedited outputs, a decisions log of what was recomputed, changed, or rejected, and named, dated sign-off. Without that record, an AI-calculated figure is unsupported and must be redone from source.
Can AI give tax or accounting treatment advice?
Not as a conclusion. The course teaches that an assistant may summarize a standard with its citation, structure a technical memo, and compute from a method a qualified person chose. Conclusions on accounting treatment, tax position, disclosure requirements, and regulatory interpretation belong to a qualified reviewer, marked with a qualified-review placeholder in the draft.
Which financial data is safe to put into an AI tool?
The course uses four classes. Restricted data, such as unreleased results, material non-public information, bank and card details, and payroll by person, never goes into any AI tool. Confidential data goes only into approved tools, minimized, and the habit is to aggregate first into totals, counts, and shares.
Which AI tools does the course use?
The course is vendor-neutral and doesn't require or endorse any specific product. It teaches practices that apply to any organization-licensed assistant or AI feature inside your ERP or close platform, plus the tests an approved tool must meet: no training on your data, defined retention, and deletion on request. Personal accounts and free tiers are never used.
How is this different from an Excel or general AI skills course?
Most AI courses teach prompting for individual productivity. AI for Finance & Accounting Professionals starts from controls: segregation of duties, source tie-out, authorized posting, named approvers, and the audit trail. Every technique is paired with the verification and record-keeping that let AI-assisted work pass review and audit.
How long does the course take to complete?
The course has about 1 hour 10 minutes of video across 15 lessons, plus a final exam. Lessons run about four to five minutes each and are organized into three modules: Controls First; Close, Reconcile, Report; and Planning and Judgment. Many learners finish in two sittings.
Can I take the course at my own pace?
Yes. AI for Finance & Accounting Professionals is 100% online and self-paced, and your access does not expire. You can start, pause, and resume at any time on a computer, tablet, or phone with a modern web browser. There's nothing to install.
How does the final exam work?
The course ends with a 30-question multiple-choice final exam covering all three modules. You need a score of 80% or higher (24 of 30) to pass, and you can retake the exam as many times as you need. Finish all 15 lessons and pass the exam to complete the course.
Do I get a certificate of completion?
Yes. After you complete all 15 lessons and pass the final exam, you can download a RiseCert certificate of completion for AI for Finance & Accounting Professionals. It is a course completion certificate, not a license, a professional certification, or a continuing education (CE) certificate.
Can I earn CPE credit for this course?
No. AI for Finance & Accounting Professionals is not currently approved or accredited for continuing professional education (CPE), continuing education (CE), or CEU credit by any state board, licensing body, or professional association. If you need CPE hours, take a course from a sponsor approved by the body that governs your license.
Is the course accounting, tax, or legal advice?
No. The course is educational and is not accounting, tax, audit, financial, or legal advice. Your organization's policies and controls, its qualified reviewers, and applicable standards and law govern specific treatments, filings, and decisions. The course itself teaches that regulated conclusions belong to a qualified person.
Is the course content current?
Yes. AI for Finance & Accounting Professionals teaches durable practices rather than steps for a specific product: classify data, verify every number, keep controls, trail every step, and leave decisions to named people. Those practices apply whichever approved assistant or ERP feature your team uses next.
How much does the course cost, and can I enroll my finance team?
The course costs $99 per learner as a one-time purchase, with no subscription or recurring fees. To enroll a finance team, a close team, or a whole department, contact RiseCert through the Contact Us page at risecert.org.
What is the refund policy?
All sales are final and no refunds are issued, as stated in the RiseCert Terms of Use. Please review the course description, lesson list, and these FAQs before purchasing, and contact RiseCert with any questions first.
